About Piper's IT Service & Support

Your Technology Partner

Dedicated to Exceptional IT Services

Hi, and welcome to Piper’s Service. My name is Curt, and I’ve decided to retire after 30 years of PC Support.  However, I’m not crazy about the typical retirement of travel, golf, and piddling around the backyard.

My love has been all things computer-related, and I’ve picked up a wealth of experience since buying my Atari 800XL computer in 1984. Originally a mechanic in the Army, home computers caught my eye, and I went from “popping hoods” to popping open computer cases.  Even 40 years ago I felt the need to get more out of that XL.

Maybe you want more out of your PC also.

This site and domain name is dedicated to my father, Jim, who owned "Piper's Service" on 1320 and 1321 Gilman Street in Berkeley, true "Service Stations" in a day when service meant everything.  Dad has since opened his newest station in 2005, way, way up in the clouds, where the cars have wings.

My Service to You

I have a lot to offer, and I think my prices are reasonable. Here are some of the services that I can provide.

Remote PC Support

Computer slowing down? Hard Drive filling up? Got a nasty virus or malware? Don't know what I'm talking about yet you want your PC fixed?

Many things can be fixed remotely. I simply log in from my home office to your PC and run some tests.

Hardware Support

Maybe you want a larger hard drive in that laptop or desktop PC, or more memory.  Maybe you can't even power the PC on. Or, maybe you just want a computer built specifically for you.

Consultation

Do you need help deciding what computer to buy?  Maybe looking for a printer, network router, PC components, software, or method to do a particular job?

Need to talk to someone who speaks English instead of "geek?"

Quality

I believe in quality service, something missing in today's market.  I stand behind everything I do, and will support each and every customer.  If something's not right, I'll bend over backwards to make it right.

Efficiency

No one likes to wait too long for a service or product (which is what makes Amazon and the like so attractive), and I endeavor to show the same amount of alacrity.  I want to fix what ails you in a timely, efficient manner, and in a way that'll make you want to return for other business, not the same repair over and over again.

Fair Prices

I don't get discounts on parts.  I look for the best rates and buy from the best seller. I'm not a retailer, and I don't keep stock.  If you need a part, I'll try to find you the best source, and I won't charge you more than I have to pay (plus a nominal shipping/handling fee).  For most hardware repairs, I do charge a 15% labor fee over the cost of the parts.

Consultation rates (advice, etc.)...  I charge $30 for the first hour, or any part thereof, $25 p/h after that.  The time stops when the work stops - if I need to wait for parts, for instance, then you won't be charged for that wait time.
